Lee Perry: New Lee Perry Dubplate release from Pressure Sounds
Lee PerryThanks to Mick Sleeper (Upsetter.net) for the scoop.

SOUND SYSTEM SCRATCH [Pressure Sounds #68]

For more than 30 years, dub plates - exclusive, one-of-a-kind mixes for sound systems - have been a "hidden" part of reggae's history. Pressure Sounds' next release will showcase some of that hidden history, Black Ark style.

Although Lee Perry's eccentric productions from the Black Ark seemed to exist outside of the reggae mainstream, Scratch produced many dub plates between 1973 - 1979, creating exclusive mixes that have never been heard since. These come as a revelation even to the most hardcore Scratch fans.

Sound System Scratch features 19 Black Ark dub plates as well as a treasure trove of rare photographs and archive material. It promises to be one of the most exciting Lee Perry collections for many years.

1. Dread Dub Plate - Lee Perry
2. Lama Lava Mix One - Augustus Pablo & The Upsetters
3. Groove Dubber - The Upsetters
4. Groove Rider - The Upsetters
5. Jucky Skank - The Upsetters

Lee Perry: Honest Jons 7 reissue Michael Rose Upsetter re
Lee PerryJust saw this from Dub Vendor on the B&F message board. New reissue on Upsetter through Honest Jons new imprint.

Michael Rose - Observe Life / Upsetters - Observing Dub (Upsetter / Dug Out) UK 7"

WOW ! Deep n` dark stuff from Honest Jons on their new Dug Out label. This is the ultra rare first version of this pre-Black Uhuru Michael Rose track, a later inferior version was issued on the Carib Gems label, originally issued circa `74 on producer Lee Perry`s Upsetter imprint, and as far as we can recall never re-issued on vinyl or CD, until now. Rose betrays a solid Ken Boothe influence on this track and the rhythm is a blinding slice of Ja funk. Dont miss it !

Lee Perry: New Articles at Upsetter Station
Lee PerryI don't know how I missed this one, I guess just being busy with the Rhygin Records stuff lately, this slipped right past me. Mick Sleeper has some new articles up over at Upsetter station, as well as fresh podcasts for your listening pleasure.

Speaking of which, I will probably be dumping the long running shoutcast stream for Black Ark Radio and switching to a podcast format within the next few weeks. Leave some comments here if you like or dislike that idea.
